March 8 - Russian Mother's Day Celebration
|
|
Children prepared a play to greet their mothers and grandmothers with International Women's day. Our music director Olga Soukhoveeva prepared with children songs in honor of all mothers. Kids played piano and violin under the guidance of N. Kirpa. Unexpectedly, celebration was interrupted by cruel bandits who tried to take our dear mothers into captivity. However, courage and quick wittedness of kids helped them to save their moms and challenge the hearts of bandits. Pictures from Russian Mother's Day Celebration. Celebration was concluded with happy song dedicated to our mothers.

Olympic games of youngsters and "Adventures of "0"
|
|
School year 2003 was completed with two outstanding performances prepared by kids and instructors.
Pictures from the performances.
Preschoolers (2,5 -- 5 y.o.) participated in Olympic games where they experienced joyful "Repka" competition and car ride competition .
Not only kids but also their parents competed among themselves .
Readiness of our kids to the competitions checked our very own Doctor Aybolit .
Sly Baba Yaga sneaked around and stole our golden medals.
However, outstanding performance of our young sportsmen impressed her so much that she rewarded each of them with a medal by herself.
6-13 y.o. kids completed school year with great mathematical play that they prepared under the guidance of our mathematics teacher A. K. Yakovenko
who herself was an author of the play. After the performance kids and their parents had a mathematical blitz where they had to do problem solving.

Summer Program 2003
|
|
This was an exciting summer program! We had three sessions during June-August.
Children who live in the area and children who came for this summer from Russia
participating in "Cradle of Hope" and "Kidsave" Programs had fun together.
Every day we had field trips to the most interesting places in DC, VA and MD
(Dinosaurs' Land, Skyline cavers, tour on the boat along Potomac, Franciscan Monastery,
Children's Museum, Hillwood Museum and Gardens e.t.c.). We had art and craft classes,
music classes, and other classes for every taste. Some children stayed for 2 and 3 sessions.
Our instructors (Sveta Yeremina, Ludmila Ponomareva, Anna Voyt, Alex Karakcheyev, Galina
Wereshagina, Galina Pavlovsky, Larisa and Victoriya) say that they really enjoyed this
summer with kids. ".. working with them I feel myself younger and stronger …".
